Untouch FAQ — Android Build & Release Automation

Question 1

What is Untouch?

Accepted Answer

Untouch is a managed Android release automation platform that automates builds, signing, and Play Store releases. You connect your GitHub repository, and Untouch handles everything—no CI/CD pipelines, YAML files, or DevOps expertise required.

Question 2

Do I need CI/CD or DevOps knowledge?

Accepted Answer

No. Untouch is designed to work out of the box. You don't need to write YAML pipelines, manage build servers, or understand CI/CD tools. Just connect your repository and configure your app settings once—Untouch handles the rest.

Question 3

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Sign up with GitHub OAuth, connect your repository, upload your signing keys, and configure your app settings. Untouch will detect your framework and build configuration automatically. Your first build will be ready in minutes. The free tier lets you try everything risk-free.

Question 4

Which Android frameworks does Untouch support?

Accepted Answer

Untouch supports all major Android frameworks: Flutter, React Native, Expo, and native Kotlin/Java projects. The platform automatically detects your framework and configures the build environment accordingly.

Question 5

Where do builds run?

Accepted Answer

All builds run on Google Cloud Build infrastructure in completely isolated Docker containers. Each build gets a fresh environment—your code is cloned, dependencies are fetched from scratch, and the container is destroyed after the build. No state is shared between builds.

Question 6

How long do builds take?

Accepted Answer

Build times depend on your project size and dependencies, but Untouch uses Google Cloud Build's high-performance infrastructure. Most builds complete in 5-15 minutes. Builds run in parallel, so multiple commits won't queue up behind each other on paid plans.

Question 7

How does Play Store integration work?

Accepted Answer

Untouch integrates directly with Google Play Console APIs. After a successful build, artifacts can be automatically uploaded to your chosen track (internal, alpha, beta, or production). Untouch also syncs reviews, ratings, crash reports, and in-app purchase data into your dashboard.

Question 8

What happens to my build artifacts?

Accepted Answer

APK and AAB files are uploaded to Google Cloud Storage and accessible via pre-signed URLs that expire after 24 hours. Build logs are stored in PostgreSQL for 7-30 days depending on your plan. You can download artifacts anytime within the retention period.

Question 9

Does Untouch support custom build scripts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. While Untouch auto-detects most configurations, you can customize build commands, environment variables, and Gradle tasks. Advanced users can use custom Docker images or pre/post-build hooks for specialized workflows.

Question 10

How does Untouch handle my signing keys?

Accepted Answer

Your signing keys are encrypted at rest using AWS KMS (Key Management Service) and never exposed in logs, API responses, or UI. Keys are securely injected into isolated build containers at build time, then immediately destroyed after the build completes. All key access is logged in the audit trail.

Question 11

Is my source code stored on Untouch servers?

Accepted Answer

No. Your source code is only cloned temporarily during builds and never stored permanently. Untouch only stores build configuration, logs, and artifacts. All repository access is via OAuth tokens with minimal permissions (read code + webhooks).

Question 12

What if I need to migrate away from Untouch?

Accepted Answer

You retain full ownership of your signing keys, repository, and Play Store account. You can export your build configuration and signing keys at any time. There are no lock-ins—Untouch is a service layer on top of your existing infrastructure.

Question 13

How is pricing structured?

Accepted Answer

Untouch uses credit-based pricing. Free tier includes 50 credits/month. Pro ($19/month) includes 600 credits and auto-build on push. Teams ($59/month) includes 2000 credits and shared workspace. Enterprise offers unlimited capacity with custom SLA.

Question 14

Can multiple team members collaborate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Untouch supports team-based organizations where multiple developers can access apps, view builds, manage settings, and collaborate on releases. Role-based permissions let you control who can trigger builds, manage keys, or publish to production.

Question 15

Can I use Untouch with my existing CI/CD?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Untouch can work alongside your existing CI/CD setup. You can use Untouch specifically for Android builds and releases while keeping other CI/CD workflows in place. Many teams migrate gradually, starting with one app and expanding as they see value.
